Ascension Thursday is 40 days after Easter and this is what happened that day. Jesus lead his disciples to the top of a mountain near Jerusalem. "Wait in your homes until the Holy Spirit comes to you", He said. "Then go out and tell the whole world about the message of God. Teach them everything you learned from me and make many disciples. I want you to baptise them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. I will always be with you." Then he rose up into the sky and disappeared. The disciples watched him and stood there staring up after him until they could not see him anymore. Then two men appeared all dressed in white. "Jesus has gone to his Father in heaven, " they said. So the disciples went back to Jerusalem to wait for the Holy Spirit.
